This unique 1935 Auburn Duesenberg Speedster is a rare fusion of two of America’s most iconic luxury performance brands.

Decades ago, a discerning owner sought to elevate the Auburn Speedster’s already striking presence with performance to match. Believing the factory Auburn engine and drivetrain fell short, they replaced them with an authentic, numbered Duesenberg Model J engine and drivetrain, legendary for their power, engineering, and prestige.

Fitting the massive Model J powertrain required significant craftsmanship. The Auburn’s frame and hood were lengthened nearly 11 inches, allowing for the larger engine and transmission. Inside, a full Duesenberg dashboard with complete instrumentation replaced the original Auburn gauges, blending style with precision. Custom hand-fabricated rear body panels were engineered to incorporate a trunk lid and storage compartment while preserving the factory boattail silhouette that made the Auburn Speedster a design icon. Additional custom touches include a reimagined front grille, unique ornamentation, and headlights integrated into the front fenders, painted rather than chrome-plated and free-standing as on original 1935 Auburn Speedsters.
