Stumb named Executive Director
Ted and Mary Stahl proudly announce Jeff Stumb as the first Executive Director of Stahls Motors & Music Experience. Stumb brings more than 15 years of leadership as director of the legendary Great Race, the cross-country vintage car rally, and now joins the Stahls team from Chattanooga, Tennessee, along with his family.
“This is a dream come true,” said Stumb. “I’ve known Ted and Mary for more than a decade, and in that time, I’ve admired their extraordinary collection. I have always considered it one of the most amazing and unique in the country, and I’m honored to help shape its future.”
In this new role, Stumb will lead staff, manage operations, and oversee finances as the collection enters a bold new chapter of growth. Already in motion is a 70,000-square-foot expansion that will add a two-story event center with a carousel, scenic ponds, a roadway for driving historic cars, and potentially a covered bridge and Sinclair gas station.
“Jeff brings the expertise and vision to help us transform these plans into reality,” said Ted Stahl.
Since opening in 2011, Stahls Motors & Music Experience has grown into one of the nation’s premier destinations for vintage automobiles, mechanical music instruments, neon signs, and memorabilia, all carefully curated to tell the story of innovation, design, and the joy of movement. What began as Ted and Mary Stahl’s personal mission to preserve history now thrives as a nonprofit dedicated to education, inspiration, and community.
Stumb, an Auburn University graduate, adds decades of leadership experience from his newspaper publishing career and his lifelong dedication to the classic car world. He has served on the Antique Automobile Club of America’s board of directors, chaired the 2013 and upcoming 2025 Glidden Tour, and edited the Marmon News.
A passionate collector himself, Stumb owns two dozen vintage cars, from a 1915 Winton to a 1961 Corvair van. His prized favorite is a 1916 Hudson Cabriolet, but his deepest interest lies in the Indianapolis-built Marmon, especially his 1921 Marmon roadster.
Stumb and his wife, Karen, have five children and two grandchildren.
With his leadership and dedication to preserving automotive history, Stumb will help drive Stahls Motors & Music Experience into its most exciting chapter yet. Please join us in welcoming Jeff and his family to the Stahls team!
